The Mayan Long Count Calendar ends on December 21, 2012. There is speculation in the spiritual community that this will be a time of spiritual awakening. Others believe it is a doomsday prophecy. For the purpose of this game it will be a bit of both. However as opposed to something to do with space aliens or crop circles, or interplanetary alignment (well a bit of interplanetary alignment), or things like that we are using it as a basis to create a work of fiction.

I do not intend to delve into the oh so deep philosophies surrounding the prophecies of the Maya, Edgar Cayce, or Nostradamus. While this game may make mentions of them, we will probably get them wrong, and not all be historically accurate. We will make up our own prophecies, add heaven and hell into the mix, and have a good old time.

If you are an expert on 2012, please keep in mind that while we are sensitive the beliefs of certain communities, we are not a religious organization, Mayan descendants, or psychics. My step mom reads a lot of Silvia Brown, and my Mom is an atheist. We are going to use certain religious texts, references, and prophecies and change them to suit our needs, and it is all in good fun.

To prepare for this game I read "The Complete Idiot's Guide to 2012" and made my roommate read a book from the Metaphysical section of Borders entitled "Fallen Angels and The Book of Enoch." To get more information about demons walking around on earth. We are not experts. We don't pretend to be. If you have information you would like to bring to the table we will gladly take it into consideration, but if it doesn't fit, it just doesn't fit.
